RDC M23 Rebel Group
Fighting in Eastern DRC Kills About 7,000 People Since January, PM says
Recent conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has resulted in over 7,000 deaths, according to the DRC's prime minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka. The fighting, primarily centered in North Kivu province, has also left around 450,000 people without shelter after the destruction of 90 displacement camps. This escalation represents the worst conflict in the region in over a decade, and the involvement of the M23 rebel group has sparked concerns of a larger, more widespread war.
