European Union agrees to 50 billion euro aid package for Ukraine despite Hungary's veto threat
All 27 EU members agree on an additional $54 billion aid package for Ukraine. Ukraine's economy ministry said it expected the first tranche of funds in March, which had been blocked since December after Hungary's prime minister vetoed the deal. Failure to reach an agreement would have been a major blow to Ukraine. Military aid from the United States dried up amid an ongoing battle in Washington.
