European Holocaust Remembrance Day for Sinti and Roma

The European Holocaust Memorial Day for Sinti and Roma is observed on August 2, marking the 80th anniversary of the genocide known as the "Porajmos". This day has been a European day of remembrance since 2015. On August 2-3, 1944, a particularly deadly event occurred at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp, where the elderly, infirm, and mothers with small children were forced into gas chambers, attempting to resist the Nazi genocide.
