Edinburgh cancels New Year's Eve celebrations due to extreme weather forecast ahead of Hogmanay celebrations

The Hogmanay street party in Edinburgh, Scotland has been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. The event, which was expected to attract 50,000 attendees, featured a concert by Texas and a fireworks display, but these outdoor events have been called off due to high winds and rain. However, some indoor events, such as a concert by Idlewild and a candlelit concert at St Giles' Cathedral, will still take place as planned. Blackpool council has also cancelled its fireworks display. The cancellation of the event is estimated to cost the local economy over US$60.4 million in revenue.
