EU Revises Tariffs on Chinese Electric Vehicles, Including Lower Duty for Tesla Models
The European Commission has announced plans to impose five-year import duties on Chinese-made electric vehicles (EVs) in response to a trade dispute over state subsidies. The duties will range from 9% to 36.3% and will apply to various Chinese carmakers, including BYD, Geely, and SAIC Motor. Tesla cars made in China will face a lower duty of 9%. This decision follows the Commission's provisional tariffs imposed last month, which added to the existing 10% duties on Chinese EVs. The Commission is seeking an alternative solution from Beijing to resolve the trade row.
