Israel-Lebanese Hezbollah Conflict
Dozens of walkie-talkies explode in Lebanon a day after pager blasts injure thousands
The attacks targeted handheld radios and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members, with the first wave killing at least 12 people and wounding nearly 3,000, and the second wave killing at least 14 people and injuring over 450. The devices used in the attacks were larger and heavier than the pagers used in the first wave, and were nearly three times heavier. Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attacks, with Iran accusing Israel of "mass murder". The Israeli government has not officially confirmed involvement in the attacks, but has announced a "new phase in the war" against Hezbollah.
