Dozens of Russian mercenaries killed in rebel ambush in Mali, in their worst known loss in Africa

According to various sources, a significant ambush occurred in Mali, resulting in the deaths of at least 20 Wagner fighters, including a commander, and potentially up to 80 mercenaries. The attack, which involved 1,000 rebels, also resulted in the deaths of dozens of Mali government troops. The Tuareg rebels claim to have killed and injured dozens of soldiers and Wagner mercenaries, seizing armoured vehicles, trucks, and tankers in the process. A video appears to show the aftermath of the ambush, with bodies and wreckage scattered across the desert. The Ukrainian military intelligence agency and a Telegram channel linked to the Wagner leadership have also confirmed the group suffered heavy losses, with numerous fighters killed.
