Donald Trump Threatens to Withdraw from Debate with Kamala Harris Over Muted Microphone Disagreement
A debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is scheduled to take place next month in Philadelphia, with both candidates under pressure to deliver a strong performance. The debate comes after a previous debate during the campaign led to President Joe Biden's departure from the race. Trump has expressed doubts about the integrity of ABC News, which is hosting the debate, and has suggested that he may not participate. Harris's campaign, on the other hand, has sought an "open mic" engagement, where candidates' microphones are kept on to capture off-hand comments that could be beneficial or detrimental to their campaign. Trump has also posted on social media, asking "Why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris?" and teasing that "Stay tuned!!!".
The Vice President is ready to deal with Trump's constant lies and interruptions in real time. Trump should stop hiding behind the mute button.
We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates' mics should be live throughout the full broadcast.
Our understanding is that Trump's handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don't think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own.
Now, after the Harris campaign has begun debate prep, they're clearly concerned about what they're seeing from Harris' performance and want a whole host of rules changes.
ABC offered the exact same debate rules as CNN, and we accepted -- as did the Harris camp.
I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network? ... Why did Harris turn down Fox, NBC, CBS, and even CNN? Stay tuned!!!
I didn't like it the last time, but it worked out fine.
Doesn't matter to me. I'd rather have it, probably, on. But the agreement was that it would be the same as it was last time.
Why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?
You can't cram knowledge into your head, for you know, 30 years of knowledge in one week. So, you know, there's a little debate prep, but I've always done it more or less the same way.
Will panelist Donna Brazil give the questions to the Marxist Candidate like she did for Crooked Hillary Clinton? Will Kamala's best friend, who heads up ABC, do likewise. Where is Liddle' George Slopadopolus hanging out now? Will he be involved. They've got a lot of questions to answer!!!
