Democrats escalate attacks on Trump after comedian calls Puerto Rico "floating island of garbage"
A comedian named Tony Hinchcliffe spoke at a rally for former President Donald Trump, making comments that were widely criticized as offensive. The remarks included a joke about Latinos "loving to make babies" and describing Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage". The backlash was swift, with politicians and Latino celebrities expressing outrage on social media. Vice President Kamala Harris described Trump's rally as "more vivid than usual", and President Joe Biden called it "simply embarrassing". The Trump campaign has since distanced itself from Hinchcliffe's remarks, with Mayor Eddie Moran stating that they are "polluting our elections". The incident highlights the influence of Latino groups in Pennsylvania, with some analysts suggesting that it could have a significant impact on the state's electoral outcome.
We remember, and you know what, we are going to vote.
The garbage he spoke about is polluting our elections and confirming just how little Donald Trump cares about Latinos specifically, about our Puerto Rican community.
When you have some a–hole calling Puerto Rico 'floating garbage,' know that that's what they think about you. It's what they think about anyone who makes less money than them.
I will never forget what Donald Trump did and what he did not do when Puerto Rico needed a caring and a competent leader.
He is focused and actually fixated on his grievances, on himself and on dividing our country, and it is not in any way something that will strengthen the American family, the American worker.
He abandoned the island, tried to block aid after back-to-back devastating hurricanes and offered nothing more than paper towels and insults.
What he did last night is not a discovery. It is just more of the same and may be more vivid than usual. Donald Trump spends full time trying to have Americans point their finger at each other, fans the fuel of hate and division, and that's why people are exhausted with him.
This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.
I'm not a Nazi. I'm the opposite of a Nazi.
Tony Hinchcliffe clearly isn't funny & definitely doesn't reflect my values or those of the Republican Party.
There's a lot going on, like, I don't know if you know this but there's literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. Yeah. I think it's called Puerto Rico.
