Daniel Khalife sentenced to 14 years in prison

Daniel Khalife, a 23-year-old former British Army soldier, escaped from Wandsworth prison in 2023 after being found guilty of passing secrets to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Khalife, who was on remand for espionage and terrorism charges, fashioned a makeshift sling to escape under a food delivery lorry. He spent three days on the run before being arrested on a bicycle. Khalife gathered intelligence over a two-and-a-half-year period while stationed in the UK and the US. A jury at Woolwich Crown Court found him guilty of breaching the Official Secrets Act and the Terrorism Act. He also pleaded guilty to escaping from prison.
