China places top military official under investigation

This move is part of Xi Jinping's ongoing campaign to root out corruption within the Chinese military. Miao Hua, a member of the powerful Central Military Commission, oversees the People's Liberation Army as director of the political work department. This development comes after the suspensions of two former defense ministers, Wei Fenghe and Li Shangfu.
