China directs Apple to remove WhatsApp and Threads from app store in China

Apple has withdrawn WhatsApp, Threads, Signal, and Telegram apps from its Chinese App Store following instructions from the Cyberspace Administration of China. The reason given for the removal was unspecified national security concerns. This action comes amid heightened tensions between the US and China over trade, technology, and national security issues. It is important to note that China's Great Firewall already blocks access to these apps domestically. Apple stated, "We are obligated to follow the laws in the countries where we operate."
