China Launches Anti-Monopoly Probe into Nvidia

China has launched an investigation into Nvidia, a US-based chipmaker, over allegations of violating anti-monopoly laws. The investigation was initiated by the State Administration for Market Regulation, which stated that it was acting in accordance with the law. The probe is focused on Nvidia's acquisition of Mellanox Technologies, an Israeli chip designer, in 2019 for $7 billion. Nvidia is suspected of violating the terms of the regulatory approval it received for the acquisition. This is not the first time Nvidia has faced scrutiny over its business practices in China, as the country has implemented stricter regulations on the tech industry in recent years. The US has also imposed export controls on advanced artificial intelligence chips, which has impacted Nvidia's business in China.
