Child among fatalities on Channel boat, trampled to death

Two incidents involved attempts to cross the Channel by dinghy, with the first reported at around 7am on Saturday. In both cases, the migrants called for assistance due to engine failure and overcrowding. The first incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals, aged in their 30s, whose bodies were recovered by rescuers. A fourth migrant, a 2-year-old child, also died in the second incident, which occurred in an overloaded dinghy carrying nearly 90 people off the coast of Boulogne-sur-Mer in northern France. Thirteen other migrants were rescued, including a 17-year-old who was injured and hospitalized in Boulogne.
