Chiefs beat 49ers in overtime to defend Super Bowl title

The Kansas City Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls, making them the ninth team in NFL history to achieve this feat. They defeated the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 25-22 in overtime during Super Bowl LV on February 11, 2021. This is the first Super Bowl held in Las Vegas and the Chiefs were slight favorites going into the game. Patrick Mahomes sealed the victory by throwing a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman with just three seconds remaining in overtime. The Chiefs' win marks the first repeat Super Bowl championship since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004. Mahomes warned their rivals that "we're not done" after the game. The Chiefs looked set to lose for much of the game but managed to come back and secure the victory.
