Chef Andres: Israel accused of "systematically" targeting aid workers
Seven humanitarian aid workers from the World Central Kitchen (WCK) charity group were killed in separate incidents during the unloading of 100 tons of food brought to Gaza by sea. The convoy was targeted systematically, according to WCK founder Jose Andres, with drone strikes hitting each car in the convoy. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have acknowledged the killings and expressed "severe sorrow" over the incident. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the IDF have apologized for the deaths. The aid workers killed were identified as Lalzawmi "Zomi" Frankcom from Australia, Palestinian Saifeddin Issam Ayad Abutaha, Damian Sobol, US-Canadian national Jacob Flickinger, and John Chapman. Andres has called for investigations by the U.S. and the home countries of each aid worker. There are conflicting reports regarding the Israeli military's awareness of the convoy's whereabouts before the attack. Some sources suggest that the IDF was aware of the convoy's location, while others indicate that it was not clear if this information was known to the military prior to the incident.
