Canada's spy agency testifies on alleged Chinese election interference during Trudeau elections

There are conflicting reports regarding China's alleged interference in Canada's last two general elections. While Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has repeatedly dismissed such allegations and stated that no electoral districts were affected during the 2021 election, testimony from Canada's domestic spy agency, CSIS, suggests that China clandestinely interfered in both the 2019 and 2021 elections. The Liberal Party, led by Trudeau, emerged victorious in both elections. Karina Gould, who oversaw the process to protect Canada's general elections from foreign meddling as democratic institutions minister, is currently on parental leave. Trudeau is expected to testify at an official probe regarding this matter in Ottawa on Wednesday and his testimony will be streamed live by CTVNews.ca. The questioning during his testimony could potentially lead to political fireworks, particularly with regards to what Trudeau knew about China's interference.
