Canada's Olympic team faces controversy over drone surveillance of New Zealand soccer team
A drone was spotted hovering near the New Zealand women's football team's practice pitch in Saint-Étienne, France on July 22. The team reported the incident to the local police, who detained the drone operator, who was later identified as a staff member of the Canadian team. The New Zealand team was set to play Canada on July 28 at 1am AEST. As a result of the incident, an assistant coach with Canada's team, Jasmine Mander, and Joseph Lombardi were sent home.
