Briton Russ Cook completes marathon run across Africa's entire length

Russ Cook, a 27-year-old runner with the nickname "Hardest Geezer," completed a remarkable feat by running over 16,000km (9,940 miles) across 16 African countries in 352 days. Cook's journey began at Africa's most southerly point, the South African village of L'Agulhas, last April and ended in Tunisia. Throughout his odyssey, he faced numerous challenges including robberies at gunpoint, kidnappings by men with machetes, and debilitating illnesses. Despite these hardships, Cook managed to raise $870,000 for two separate charities.
