British Tourist Seriously Injured in Tobago Shark Attack

A 64-year-old British man, identified as Peter Smith, was attacked by a bull shark while swimming approximately 30 feet from the shore at Turtle Beach in Courland Bay, Trinidad and Tobago. The incident occurred on the island's north coast. According to reports, Smith suffered severe injuries, including the severing of his left thigh and arm below the elbow. Some of his fingers were reattached after surgery at Scarborough General Hospital. The attack was described as "unusual" by authorities, who have suspended all reef tours in the area.
