Brazilian Sharks Test Positive for Cocaine, Scientists Confirm

A recent study conducted by Brazilian scientists has found high levels of cocaine in the bodies of 13 sharpnose sharks caught off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The researchers tested the sharks' muscles and livers for the drug, discovering concentrations as much as 100 times higher than previously reported in aquatic creatures. Notably, the cocaine levels were significantly higher in muscle tissue compared to liver tissue, with female sharks exhibiting higher concentrations in their muscle tissues compared to males.
