Biden administration issues new rules to boost EV and hybrid sales

The Biden administration has finalized new tailpipe rules for passenger cars and trucks, which will implement stricter emissions standards than previously in place. However, these rules will be phased in more gradually than originally proposed last year. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had initially suggested a rapid transition towards electric vehicles (EVs). Despite the slower implementation, the new rules will eventually approach the same stringent standards set out by the Biden administration's EPA. Sales of EVs have recently started to decline in the US.
