Belgium to investigate suspected Russian interference in EU elections

There have been reports of suspected Russian interference in the upcoming European Parliament elections, with several articles confirming that investigations have been initiated in Belgium. According to Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, cash payments did not occur in Belgium but pro-Russian interference did. The Belgian prosecutor's office also confirmed the start of a probe on Thursday. De Croo added that Moscow's objective was to help elect more pro-Russian candidates to weaken the EU's support for Ukraine. Belgian intelligence services have identified pro-Russian interference networks in several European countries, including Belgium. Additionally, there have been allegations that Russian officials approached members of the European Parliament and offered them money.
