Baltimore Bridge Collapse

Baltimore Bridge Collapse: Crews Begin Removing Debris

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland collapsed into the Patapsco River following a cargo ship collision. Seven large floating cranes, ten tugboats, nine barges, eight salvage vessels, and five Coast Guard boats are currently at the site to assist in the removal of the debris. Crews are carefully measuring and cutting the steel from the broken bridge before attaching straps for lifting onto barges. The largest challenge is removing the segment that rests on the cargo ship.
