Austria's far-right Freedom party tasked with forming coalition government

President Alexander Van der Bellen has tasked Herbert Kickl, the leader of the far-right Freedom Party, with forming a coalition government. The Freedom Party emerged as the largest party in the September parliamentary elections, winning 28.8% of the vote and beating the outgoing Chancellor Karl Nehammer's Austrian People's Party into second place.
