Australian passenger ordered to pay over $11,000 in fuel costs after flight diverted due to bad behavior

A 32-year-old man from Western Australia was involved in a disruptive incident on a flight from Perth to Sydney, resulting in the plane turning back to Perth. As a consequence, the passenger is liable for the cost of the wasted fuel, amounting to $8,630 AUD ($5,806 USD), and has also been fined $6,055 by the Perth Magistrate Court.
