Argentina quarantines cargo ship over suspected mpox case

A cargo ship anchored in the Parana River off its destination in San Lorenzo has been quarantined due to a suspected case of mpox on board. The crew member in question is exhibiting symptoms including cyst-like skin lesions on the chest and face, as well as fever and weakness. Medical personnel will board the ship to inspect the crew member and take samples for study if the symptoms are compatible with mpox. The entire crew will be quarantined until the results of the studies are available. This incident comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared mpox a global public health emergency for the second time in two years.
