American Woman Fatally Shot During Protest in Occupied West Bank
ai generated text
Aysenur Eygi, a 26-year-old American-Turkish citizen and volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement, was shot during an anti-settlement protest in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The incident occurred in Beita, near Nablus. Eyewitnesses and Palestinian officials claim that the Israeli military was responsible for the shooting, while the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they "responded with fire toward a main instigator of violent activity". The IDF is investigating the incident. Eygi was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries. The US State Department is "urgently gathering more information" about the incident.
We tried to save the American citizen, we tried to revive the heart for several stages, but unfortunately, we did not succeed in restoring the heart to function.
We say to the international community, this woman held American citizenship.
We offer our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. We are urgently gathering more information about the circumstances of her death, and will have more to say as we learn more. We have no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens.
When we have more info, we will share it, make it available and, as necessary, we'll act on it.
They have weapons from America. It is not an accident that they hit her in the head. That was on purpose. It's not that they shot a hundred shots at the same time, and she was hit with one. We were all standing still, not moving. Just standing there, and they shot her through the head.
I treated her for a gunshot wound to the head and that she died shortly after arrival.
We usually have weekly confrontations at Jabal Sabeeh. During these confrontations, the army fired two live bullets: one hit a foreigner, and the other hit another person, whose injury is less severe.
