American Airlines grounds all flights due to technical issue, services resume after brief disruption
American Airlines experienced a technical issue on Christmas Eve that led to a nationwide ground stop of all its flights in the US. The issue, described as a vendor technology issue, caused 1,447 delays and 28 cancellations, with the majority of delays occurring at major airports such as Dallas-Fort Worth International, Charlotte, New York, Chicago, and Miami. The ground stop was lifted approximately an hour after it was issued, with flights cleared to fly again by federal regulators. The incident had a negative impact on American Airlines' stock, with its shares declining 3.8% in pre-market trading before clawing back lost ground. The nature of the technical issue was not immediately clear, but American Airlines stated that they were working to fix it as quickly as possible.
American Airlines reported a technical issue this morning and requested a nationwide ground stop. The ground stop has now been lifted.
An estimated timeframe has not been provided, but they're trying to fix it in the shortest possible time.
