Alabama executes third man this year with nitrogen gas

Carey Grayson was executed by the state of Alabama using the controversial method of nitrogen gas. The execution, which was the third of its kind this year, was carried out despite opposition from veterinarians who have deemed nitrogen an unsuitable method of euthanasia for animals, let alone humans. Grayson was convicted of the 1994 murder and torture of hitchhiker Vickie Deblieux, along with three others who were also teenagers at the time of the crime.
