Air India plane makes emergency landing in Canada after online security threat

Air India flights have been subject to sudden and unscheduled detours in recent weeks due to alleged bomb threats. Initially, an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was diverted mid-air to New Delhi as a result of a hoax bomb threat made to Indian airlines. Following this incident, an Air India plane bound for Chicago made an emergency landing in Iqaluit, less than a day after Canada and India had expelled senior diplomats. In both instances, the aircraft and passengers were re-screened as per security protocol, and agencies were activated at the airport to assist the passengers until their journey could resume.
