23andMe Holdings and several affiliates file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

23andMe, a genetic testing company, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States. The company's co-founder and CEO, Anne Wojcicki, has resigned, and her position will be taken over by Chief Financial Officer Joe Selsavage on an interim basis. 23andMe aims to continue operating normally while it goes through the asset sale process, during which it will sell "substantially all of its assets" through a court-approved reorganization plan. The company's 15 million customers' genetic data is at stake in this process.
